Overwatch's Halloween Terror 2018 Speculation

October is here! Fall has begun to take its roots; the air is crisp, leaves are changing colors and my favorite holiday is slowly creeping up. With All Hallow’s Eve brings a returning Overwatch PvE event: Halloween Terror. Coming Tuesday, October 9, Overwatch released a little teaser via their social media pages yesterday. Rather than feature the castle in Junkenstein’s Revenge, we instead saw a night version of Château Guillard. The caption included stated:

“There’s a rumor among explorers
About a monolithic lair
Home to terrifying horrors
Heroes, how will you prepare?

With this teaser comes the hope of many; a revamped version of the Halloween Terror event. While I do love killing zomnics with my friends, it would be nice to see something just a tad different. Will players be sent on a quest to find and destroy the “evil creatures” within the manor? Are we going to have a chance to play as the villains in the story? Or is this all just fun and games for Jeff Kaplan as he reveals that you can now play deathmatch on Château Guillard during the evening and nothing else is different about the event?

Spending some time watching theory videos on leaked skins for the event and the new leaked achievement on PTR, I’m leaning towards being able to play as the “monsters.” The achievement image shows six icons, most likely the new legendary skins that will be available during the event. During the original Junkenstein’s Revenge, the achievement Four They Were showcased the original four heroes you play as; McCree, Soldier 76, Ana and Hanzo. This leads me to believe we’ll be able to play on the other side of justice for once, and I’m very much looking forward to it if that’s the case.
